Atlee Valentine Pope, President & CEO
Atlee Valentine Pope is the co-author of the growth strategy book, CoDestiny: Overcome Your Growth Challenges By Helping Your Customers Overcome Theirs. Atlee has worked with global business-to-business executives and private equity firms, co-authored more than 50 papers, and has been a guest speaker at numerous business and university events. Before co-founding and building Blue Canyon Partners, Atlee served in leadership roles in several start-up ventures and was a vice president in global corporate finance with First Chicago. Atlee earned an MBA from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management and a BA from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.
David G. Hartman, Partner; Blue Canyon China Associates, CEO
David works with major corporations across a multitude of industries, including: automotive, telecommunications, construction, and many others. Prior to joining Blue Canyon, David served on the faculty of Harvard University, was Executive Director of the National Bureau of Economic Research, and was Managing Director of DRI McGraw-Hill. David earned a PhD in Economics from Harvard and both BA/MA degrees from Northwestern University in Mathematics and Economics.
Axel J. Leichum, Partner
Axel has been turning insights into actionable strategies for over 15 years, working with clients in a wide variety of industries and markets—from high-tech to healthcare to industrial automation and control to private equity. Axel speaks frequently and has published several thought-provoking publications on adjacencies, disruption, pricing, and segmentation. Axel holds an MBA from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management and a BA in Economics with departmental honors from Northwestern University.
Kevin G. Sarb, Principal
Kevin has nearly 13 years of experience as a management consultant, leading client engagements across a wide variety of industries, including: agribusiness, chemicals, building products, food ingredients, technology solutions and services, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and medical devices. Prior to joining Blue Canyon, Kevin was a manager with ZS Associates. Kevin earned an MBA, with honors, from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a MA in Applied Economics from the University of Michigan, and a BS in Pre-Professional Studies and History from the University of Notre Dame.
Ann Manix, Director
Ann plays a leading role in managing client relationships and actively helps to address clients’ most significant growth challenges. Ann’s career includes a number of senior management positions with manufacturing companies, as well as having served over 20 years as an outside director on various NYSE boards. Ann’s prior board roles have spanned a variety of industries, including oil and gas, consumer brands, chemicals, and many more. Ann earned a BA in Political Science from Mt. Holyoke College.
Christopher D. Motogawa, Director
Chris has more than 20 years of executive experience in finance and operations. Prior to joining Blue Canyon, Chris was CFO and member of the board of directors for Motor Coach Industries, Inc. Chris has extensive experience in private equity and has worked at Jordan Industries in their business-to-business services portfolio company. Chris is currently serving as a board member for VanderCook College of Music. Chris holds a BA in History from Northwestern University and is certified in lean processes with a CPIM from DePaul University.
Catherine Lane, Director
Catherine brings 10 years of experience specializing in business development with a focus on building and managing client relationships. She began her career at General Electric and played a key role on a merger and acquisition team at Ingersoll Rand. In addition, Catherine has experience working with Fortune 500 and private equity clients in multiple industries including industrial, manufacturing, energy, and business services. Catherine holds a BS in Business Administration from Appalachian State University.
Louis G. DiMassa, Senior Engagement Manager
Lou brings a very diverse background to help drive impact for Blue Canyon’s clients. With consulting experience in strategy, innovation, and engineering, Lou blends analytical problem solving with creative thinking to deliver sustainable growth strategies across multiple industries, including healthcare, high tech, construction, industrials, and business services. Prior to Blue Canyon, Lou worked as a professionally licensed mechanical engineer at WSP Group, a design and engineering firm, before joining Deloitte Consulting’s strategy practice. Lou received an MBA from Duke’s Fuqua School of Business with a specialization in health sector management and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University.
Raji Acharya, Senior Consultant
Raji has over 11 years of experience working with clients to modernize complex business processes. Prior to joining Blue Canyon, Raji collaborated with executives on technology strategy and large scale business transformation projects. Raji comes to Blue Canyon with extensive consulting experience having worked for Towers Perrin (now Willis Towers Watson), Tata Consultancy Services, and Cherry Road Technologies where she managed cross-functional teams. Raji earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science & Engineering from Visveswaraiah Technological University.
James F. Auger, Senior Consultant
James has 10 years of diverse experience in health care, music management, and business-to-business growth strategy. James has worked with clients on pricing and channel strategy in the medical products, technology, electrical equipment, and automotive industries. Prior to joining Blue Canyon, James worked in business strategy focusing on mergers and acquisitions for national hospitals and health systems, before pursuing his entrepreneurial interests managing songwriters and music producers. James received an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management and a BS in Human Communication Sciences from Northwestern University.
